Grand Tour Baroque

October & November, 2017

Known for expertise in Renaissance music from European courts and chapels, Concordia Consort takes a musical leap forward into the Baroque era with a whirlwind tour program featuring songs by Claudio Monteverdi and Girolamo Frescobaldi; arias from operas by the “Georges” — George Frideric Handel and Georg Philipp Telemann; a beloved aria from Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria; and a quirky recorder sonata by Neapolitan composer Francesco Mancini. Also on the program, a Telemann cantata based on the commandment to “love thy neighbor as thyself”, and delightful songs from London’s Covent Garden Theatre by Thomas Arne.

Refreshments and conversation with the performers follow most of the concerts.
