Les Dames de Paris — November 2014

A musical exploration of life, love and the ladies of Renaissance France. Guest soprano Eileen Cecelia Callahan joins Concordia’s recorder quartet, Sheila Beardslee (director), Nouri Newman, Brian Warnock and Henia Yacubowicz.

With lovelorn, love-struck and love-sick chansons by Dufay, Binchois, Josquin, Compere, Lassus, Manchicourt and LeJeune, we celebrate the ladies of Renaissance France — the shepherdess, the kitchen maid, the noble lady, and the Heavenly Queen, as well as their beaux loved from afar or in a raucous embrace. Instrumental settings and dances complete the program.

Performances in Newton and Medford, MA and in Sanbornville NH.
