Les Dames de Paris — March 2 & 9, 2014

Concordia Consort, Ensemble-in-Residence at Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord, gives two March performances of its newest program, ”Les Dames de Paris,” a musical exploration of life, love and the ladies of Renaissance France.  Guest soprano Eileen Cecelia Callahan joins our recorder quartet, Sheila Beardslee (director), George Mastellone, Brian Warnock and Henia Yacubowicz.

With lovelorn, love-struck and love-sick chansons by Dufay, Binchois, Josquin, Compere, Lassus, Manchicourt and LeJeune, we celebrate the ladies of Renaissance France — the shepherdess, the gardener, the castle lady, and the Heavenly Queen, as well as their beaux both loved from afar or in a raucous embrace.  Instrumental settings and dances complete the program.
